Quality management in academic libraries

Self-evaluation of library staff employed in Nicholas Copernicus Provincial and Municipal Library in Toruń was carried-out as introduction and first step of some periodic evaluation personal system. This questionnaire was fulfilled by 102 persons - librarians, technical and administrative workers. Presented material is analysing the answers of 25 workers occupying highest position in our professional hierarchy: senior subject librarians. These questionnaires show, that this group of the library staff hasn't sufficient motivation to modernize and make effective their workshop, additionally this group (for the most part) does not see necessity of their qualification raising by the pemanent education. After this part of evaluation conclusion is such: it it the necessity for the Library to create the library system of evaluation and promotion principles.
