The Ministry of Culture along with the Warsaw University Foundation bid for
a very valuable manuscript for the Warsaw University Library.
On the 30th of November 2007 at London Sotheby's, during the auction of music manuscripts - three valuable Polish musical manuscripts were presented: one of Frederic Chopin and two of Karol Szymanowski's. The Warsaw University Library, a depositary of Karol Szymanowski's estate, entered the bidding. This was made possible thanks to the financial aid of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and - on an organisational side - of the Warsaw University Foundation. The manuscript of the IV Symphony was purchased - at the cost of 5760 GBP. This very valuable item will enrich the collection of the Polish Composers' Archive at the Warsaw University Library. In January of 2007, as an initiation to the Karol Szymanowski's Jubilee Year, a public presentation of this item is planned.
