Phase I of the Bertelsmann Foundation second project is nearing its end. On June 25, an opening of Mediateka - The Library for the Young - will take place in Wroclaw. This library is located in one of the renovated buildings of Plac Teatralny (the Wroclaw Theatre Square). All visitors should take notice of the central element of this library - a modern 'media ribbon' running through the library building. Initial assessments of library units show the number of 30,000. The library collection consists of traditional items, such as: magazines, periodicals, electronic media, CDs, multimedia, VHS, DVDS. Apart from the core colletion which targets 13-25 age group, the library provides access to twelve fully equipped, Internet-ready computer stations, as well as professional counselling and support. "Library for the young" - this is a project organised jointly by the Bertelsmann Foundation and Polish public libraries. Another library, similar to the one in Wroclaw, is to be opened in September, in the city of Olsztyn, and will bear the name of "Planet 11".
