LIBRARY WEEK 2004
The Polish Librarians Association (PLA) has put forward an new initiative -
namely, an introduction of a brand new event called: 'A Library Week'
which would take place every year in May. This event would hold an
important position in Polish cultural life and the lives of readers. It
would also promote libraries as cultural institutions and educational
and informative centres in many local communities.
Such an event would undoubtedly alert general public to
cultural policies of the state and social importance of all
library-related professions.
With this initiative in mind, the Main Management of PLA has proposed May 8-15 as dates for this event.
The Board of Directors has formed a working group whose main task is the
formulationof various organisational issues related to
program of the 'Library Week'.

as well as in periodicals "Bibliotekarz" oraz "Poradnik Bibliotekarza".
