Citizen journalism: the activity that links people together.

The dynamic growth of the Internet and its expanding capabilities offer its users plenty of possibilities for presenting news and information. Finding an interesting, informative and stimulating website is becoming increasingly difficult. The author of this article considers citizen journalism as a good and useful way of presenting information. Citizen journalism is considered as a legitimate sort of professional journalism, and in Poland it is still at a nascent stage.

Blogs, blogomania, blogosphere.

This article presents basic information on blogging, which is an increasingly popular tool. A short overview of the history of blogging is given, as well as some data about the scale of this activity. A description of the library blogosphere is also included. A few of the well-known Polish and foreign blogs are listed.

Web Sites evolution.

This article gives a report on the range of ideas, technologies, and trends used in website design over the last dozen or so years. The author mentions many issues in the context of the various stages of web-site evolution, putting special emphasis on the functionality of technologies being used, and on social demand.

User profile and other Web 2.0 elements in digital libraries

The article starts with a definition of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0, and proceeds with a discussion of Web 2.0 elements that are used in digital libraries The author presents the impact of this new Internet trend on the software needed. Special attention is given to the user profile and user collaboration in the context of digital libraries. The conclusion presented is that Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 techniques contribute to the breakthrough in the way libraries and information services function. This concerns mainly the changing mentality of librarians and users, and then innovative organizational and technological strategies.
