The idea of the distributed digital libraries' network in Poland.
Digital libraries have become a big part of our reality despite many opinions to the contrary, e.g. "it does not concern us", "it will take a generation before digital libraries become a fact", etc. Undoubtedly, it will take much time, effort, research and financial means for the implementation of new technologies, however, it is high time that discussions about the very need for digital libraries ceased. It is necessary that concrete and decisive actions be taken toward creation of easily accessible digital resources, and that these activities become part of library statutes.
The purpose of this article is to point out how the society, the libraries and general economy of the country can benefit from the development of such system.

Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library and standards.
The author presents the principles outlined in NISO's (National Information Standards Organization) document, entitled: "A Framework of Guidance for Building Good Digital Collections" in the context of Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library. Certain conditions, as well as certain activities of project planning in the area of creation of digital resources were pointed out in these principles.
It is an attempt at the comparison of American normative records with Polish professional practice. Apparently, a similar approach to metadata was used, as well as careful creation of precise and high-quality digital objects. A systematic and carefully planned data and collection management, as well as properly addressed software requirements also played an important role.
