Extrabudgetary sources of financing of university libraries in Poland and other free market countries.
The paper aims to present the ways of acquiring additional funds by university libraries in the various free market economy countries. On the base of annual reports of selected British and American libraries, and some published papers from Lithuania, the ideas, solutions and practice of getting and spending extrabudgetary funds are presented. The examples are compared with the reality of the Polish academic libraries. Some new proposal based on ideas of gaining extra money in Anglo-Saxon librarian system are given in the conclusion.

"Bibliotheca Sonans" - Wroclaw Chamber Musicians and the Wroclaw University Library joint project, sponsored by European Union.
The Wroclaw University Library is the participant of the project "Bibliotheca Sonans" financed by the European Union within the scope of Culture 2000 program. Wroclaw Chamber Musicians act as program coordinators, while the Wroclaw University Library, Karl-Franzers Universitat in Graz and Narodni Knihovna in Prague are co-coordinators. Over the period of one year (September 2004-August 2005) the most valuable and unique copies/pieces of library collections will be made available to general public through the use of mobile expositions, printed catalogues, concerts and internet presentations. The Cantores Minores Wratislavienses choir, as well as the Ars Cantus ensemble form the musical backdrop to all the presentations. The conservation, digitalization and sound storing of chosen pieces are also included in the project. The purpose of this project is better preservation and bigger exposure of common European cultural wealth and heritage.

Book editions as presented by the Silesian Library.
The Silesian Library publishing activity has, for a long time now, been an extensive and interesting one. The publications are not only carefully and richly presented,
but also actively promoted. The article, based on a dissertation "The Silesian Library publishing activity as a way of promoting its contents" - ( the Institute of Scientific Information
and Library Science of the University of Silesia, 2003)- gives descriptions of editions published by Ksiaznica.
