This article presents the most important problems regarding bibliographical description of films in the MARC21 format in the HORIZON system, according to Polish and foreign standards, based on the experience of American librarians and film archivists. The media used in Polish libraries were mentioned, vision discs and records as well as DVDs. The arguments allowing for the qualification of films recorded on optical discs as "film material" and not as "electronic document" were presented.
