One-person Libraries - an introduction.

In her article, the author attempts to summarize current information on one-person libraries. She defines the subject, talks about the activities of these libraries in the United States and Western Europe and provides titles of key foreign literature, which can help understand the nature of this phenomenon. Furthermore, she describes the work of the solo librarian who, by being the sole manager of this type of library, is exposed to various difficulties.

About a happy library and the beginning of bibliophilism.

The library maintains an established and significant place within school structures. This school-wide information and pedagogical establishment, usually run by one librarian, requires a particular organization of work. The author presents her experiences in managing such a library.

Art. 3: Jadwiga Dzikowska,
The "accidental librarian".

The article discusses the functioning of one of the departmental libraries of the Cracow University of Technology. She attempts to answer the question whether the "accidental librarian" (librarian without professional training, managing a departmental library as an additional duty) is able to replace a professional librarian.

What does the librarian have in the library?

The article describes the professional struggles of a solo librarian in one of departmental libraries of a university. It includes some historical background and statistical data, some humour and a bit of irony, all within a popular and rather non-scientific convention.

Art. 5: Beata Paw,
Working with books in the elementary school clubroom.

Working with books can take place in various areas of the school but, almost always, books are used in the school clubroom or library. The book activities are intended to help pupils overcome the stress related to their studies, new responsibilities and new surroundings, as well as, to encourage them to use books more frequently. The literature on the subject points to numerous ways of working with books in the elementary school clubroom. These could be arts related activities, short performance acts or recitation competitions. Bibliotherapy is a significant element of the activities, especially in integrational schools. It can serve in battling various afflictions of sick children.

The level of customer satisfaction re: the services of the Main Library of the University of Szczecin - before and after site renovations. Poll comparison.

The purpose of this article is to show whether, and to what degree the level of customer satisfaction changed after the improvements introduced at the site of the Main Library of the University of Szczecin. The poll, conducted before and after the changes had taken place, proved that the level of services depends not only on the quality of the collection, but also on the conditions under which those services are performed.
