The Internet information flow to and from the disabled persons. The present, past and future plans

The article presents responses of participants of an opinion poll on the Internet information flow to and from the disabled. The poll included persons fully able and actively working for the good of the disabled, as well as, people at various levels of disability using the Internet daily. The questionnaire covered three Internet projects: Pajęczaki service, Kurier IdN1 and the Fuga Mundi foundation site.

Bibliotherapy - theory vs. practice.

The author describes the theoretical aspects of bibliotherapy, its ties with other areas of knowledge, as well as, the practical use of the possibilities it offers. Using the example of hospital libraries in Cracow, she argues that the potential of bibliotherapy in patient treatment is not adequately exploited.

In service of bibliotherapy. Bibliotherapy in Sweden

Bibliotherapy is a generally recognised therapy method practised in clinical treatment, as well as, rehabilitation. The author describes therapeutic activities, which librarians use in working with hospital patients, the ill and handicapped staying in houses and with persons living in homes for the aged. In Sweden, these activities are not limited only to ill persons. Bibliotherapy is one of the regular activities of libraries and is used also in working with foreigners, refugees, children and adults, who experience difficulties with reading and writing.

Art. 4: Ewa Kobierska-Maciuszko,
Building libraries for the needs of disabled users.

The author presents legal statutes and regulations on building requirements in respect to people with disabilities. On the basis of the current Disability Discrimination Act (Great Britain) and Americans with Disabilities Act (United States), she isolates the best architectural solutions that consider the needs of the disabled.
