Information goods in electronic communication and their usage through the electronic medium in the light of most recent amendments to the copyright law in Poland - an introduction to the issue.
The broad concept of intellectual property is the most basic category of information goods obtained through electronic communication. The severe character of many laws protecting these goods cannot overshadow the huge importance of the obligatory nature of relations associated with offering goods and services "remotely", which is a typical practice in all types of e-commerce. The article discusses legal aspects of providing access to intellectual property on the Internet.

The author considers the principles of providing universal access to works (mainly scientific), applying the rules of public domain, earlier used to disseminate computer software. Nahotko presents the principles of author auto-archiving scientific works, based on archives compatible with OAI, as well as, the types of contracts applied in publishing works on the Internet, using the example of the Creative Commons initiative.

The European Council Directive on the harmonization of certain aspects of the Copyright and Related Rights in the information society is one of key directives for libraries. The author discusses the process of its development, including the lobbying efforts of consumer groups against its restrictive formulas, and analyzes its content from the point of view of its effect on libraries.

The actions of librarians in the process of implementing the Directive on the harmonization of certain aspects of Copyright and Related Rights in the information society.
The efforts to develop the Copyright Directive have taken almost 4 years and 2 years have passed since it was put into practice. During that time, librarians have worked intensely to change the aspects of the directive that were unfavorable to libraries. The article reviews the most important ventures of librarians in this area.
