Malgorzata Jaskowska Meta-information regarding scientific
publications on national universities' web pages

scientific publications posted on university home pages - these
publications authored by the staff of Polish universities. All kinds
of www.pages were scrutinised; the information being analysed
according to its presentation and placement. The data (its
contents, the ways of obtaining it) was analysed with the use of
traditional (bibliographies, catalogues), as well as new
(electronic) scientific sources.
Art.2:
Andrzej Benski, Teresa E. Szymorowska The legal situation
of public libraries
The legal situation of public libraries - the post-reform stage.
There has been a dramatic change in the status of all public
libraries' network. With the number of voivodship libraries
radically reduced, a new level has been introduced - that of county
libraries. Unfortunately, up until 17 of February, 2000, only 98
county libraries had started operations (per 360 counties) and, at
the present time, they still do not function independently. Taking
the libraries' post-reform experience into consideration, the
outlook for their future cannot be optimistic, as the Polish public
library system seems to be markedly loosing its consistency, thus
weakening the position of the libraries as centres of information,
education and culture.
